So Josh and I have a ton of plans which obviously involve a lot of money. We had plans for the summer that he would go to BCT and I would work and saved, and it would’ve worked had I not had a long illness that had me laid up in bed for the 2 months of summer (it was terrible). Now I’m stuck in my dad’s house an hour away from Josh with no job, and let me tell you what… I’M BORED (hence the new hair- but in reality it just really needed the love)
New hair :)
I am one of those people who love to be busy and hate being bored, so this is absolute torture. And for anyone who says “well you could get a job if you really try” uh HELLO I am trying. It’s not exactly easy here. I have no driver’s license, no car and there aren’t a lot of places where I can walk to work. I finally convinced my dad to say he’d drive me to work which is expanding the possibilities of fiscal independence and not a moment too soon. I love that I can now expand where I’m giving out resumes and applications, and to be honest I really can’t wait to get into the working world there is so much to pay for:
- Apartment
- Food
- Cell phone (eventually)
- Electricity
- Water
- Internet
- Pets (when we’re ready)
- Insurance
- Car
- Josh’s AIT grad gift: A deployment proof laptop with a webcam. That way he can leave his current one here and if the other breaks he’ll still have one that I can ship outJ
All of that and more are put on hold until we can get our financial future planned out and I’m actually really stoked. I’m a planner, and a saver. I love to save money and calculate how long it will take to get my newest prize. It’s the only kind of math I like because it’s simple: If I put X amount of dollars in my savings account every month how many months will it take me to reach my goal (and I’d always check on your prize to make sure you save enough, as well as keeping a little money in there for safe keeping)
Ex. I want a puppy that won’t be ready to buy for 4 months, but will be about $500.
If I put money in the account once a month it will be $125 a month, but you don’t have to do it all at once!
I could spread it into bi monthly deposits = $62.5 every two weeks
I could do weekly deposits= $31.25
I could do bi weekly deposits of =$15.70
It would be so simple to get that dog. Just break it down into ways that are easier on your financial load and always keep some emergency money in your account for, well, emergencies.
You should always try to save at least $20 a month (if not more) Think this through. $20 a month x 12 months a year= $240 a year. If you save 50 a month its $600! That could save your butt next year! I’m just saying that saving is the way to get what you want easier, and faster.
*And trust me I want us to have our own place more than anything. I’m tired of being dependent on other people. I’m ready to start this partnership!*
Josh wishing he was in Band of Brothers (Which he's obsessed with)
Meanwhile, I have been loving Married to the Military and I am loving this book. I’m learning so much already and I’m barely 3 chapters in! If you know someone in or are thinking of joining the military you have to read this book. It was around $10.50 on sale, but $14.00 regularly and is definitely worth it.
I’m editing footage of our flight back here after exodus, so soon that’ll be up.
Love. Peace. Freedom.
Kristen
