Updating for the week, Controversial Subjects info.

Hey blog readers,

Sorry I’ve been neglecting the blog but I’ve been a wee bit busy (plus I’ve been debating some things).

First off Josh is home! YAYAYAYAYAY. I can’t tell you how amazing it is to have him home and to just walk over to his house whenever I want to see him. Plus we have our first “Date Night” on Friday :)

Now, Friday Stephanie and I had lunch and shopped before I had to go to work, and I have to say that I had an amazing day.

We went to Yankee Candle and smelled all the candles and then I found the best candle. Then I found the best candle ever. Sweet Honeysuckle! I love the smell of honeysuckle, it reminds me of my childhood (like preschool) and I swear when I have a house I’m going to have a honeysuckle plant.

After we went shopping I went to work and had the best day (followed by a phone call for another appointment at Macys!)

It’s been a relaxed week, just hanging with Josh and waiting to start putting the house back together, and once it is I will be putting up the after pictures :)

Now I want to talk about the Controversial Subjects segment. First off the name is going to be changed to Sunday Subjects.I decided that not everything I talked about would be controversial so I wanted the name to reflect that.

Now I haven’t posted a segment in 2 weeks because I haven’t decided if I want to post the harassment segment that Josh and I filmed on Saturday because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to wait to see how it played out or not. I’ve decided that I’m going to wait until this weekend, but that I am going to post it.

I only work one day this week (Which is also the day that I have my next Macy’s interview) and then I’m going to be making, and planting my vegetable garden and playing my guitar. Look for new music videos soon.

I’ve come to realize that you should always trust your gut.

If you think someone’s negative chances are they really are. Just call them out and see what happens ;)

Instincts are our body’s way of teaching us good lessons,

Kristen

Laptop, Floors, Work, and Driving

Hello blog readers,

Today is my first blog written on my new laptop :) I have to say that I absolutely love this laptop. It’s a lilac colored HP Pavilion dm4. It was around $650 and it is wonderful. It has a fingerprint scanner, amazing webcam and has the suite I need to edit my videos. Its perfect! Here are some pictures for you of the laptop and some taken with the webcam.

*Sorry about the coloring of the laptop pictures it was the light bulb*

These are some I took with my laptop webcam:

I tried to get a few pictures of Moose, but he wasn’t staying still long enough.

I didn’t work a lot this week, but I have been helping my parents pull out all the carpet in our downstairs to get it ready for the hardwood floors that are going in Monday. Let me tell you what: it is hard work. Plus we painted the dining room. It hasn’t been a ton of fun, but I have found out that I enjoy crowbars. I kick ass at taking the molding off of our walls :)

Anyways, so I decided to take a few (a lot) of pictures of our awesome “remodeling.” These are the before and after. I’ll post pictures of the completed floors after they’re completed.

Went out with my BF’s last night and had some awesome times:

“I’ll have a burger”

“Fries, tator tots, etc.”

“Can I substitute hashbrowns?”

”Hashbrowns? Sure”

I also made the executive decision to delete a few people from my life. Their negative outlook on myself and my relationship are ridiculous. They thought they knew everything about me and who I am, but they didn’t, and I didn’t need to be upset by them everyday so they’re gone, and I feel free :)

My work schedule this week is really short. I have a 2 hour meeting tomorrow. Then I work Tuesday afternoon, and Friday night. Plus I have another interview at Macy’s for a part time job at the Origin’s counter before work on Tuesday. So hopefully all goes well :)

Lately I’ve been driving my little red Saturn a lot more, and I have to say that I am so excited to get my license. Generally, I’m an anxious person and right now driving brings that out, but I think it’ll go away with time. Today JR stripped the glass on my windshield, changes the windshield wipers (actually I learned how) and got me a steering wheel cover (Which was too big). Thank you!

Obviously Josh is not home so I will be putting off the harassment Controversial Subjects until he is. He got his orders yesterday and they said he’ll be home Thursday or sooner so let’s hope that sticks.

Random thought- I really love the song “Why Georgia” by John Mayer

Lots of sleep, and sweet dreams,

Kristen

Ep.2: Hurtful Comments

Hey blog readers.

Today is Ep. 2 of Controversial Subjects, but it isn’t really controversial so I’m thinking that I’m going to actually change the name of it to something else like “Let’s Talk about it.” If you have any thoughts about it just post them below in the comments.

For those of you (Josh) who don’t know how to post comments this is a step by step guide for you.

1. Go to the bottom of the post.

2. Click the comments button clip_image004

3. Click in the white box and type your comment

4. Then click the Comment as drop down menu clip_image008

5. Then click whichever option you would like (generally it’s either Name/ URL or Anonymous) clip_image012

6. Then click Post Comment and you’re done!

So now that you know how to post a comment I want to talk to you guys about hurtful comments.

I personally have been called/ told many things:

· I’m a liar

· Fake

· Bitch

· Whore

· Slut

· Manipulator

· Stupid

· Ugly

· Can’t sing

· Bad to look at

· Fat

· Can’t write

· Can’t draw (true)

· Lesbian

· Won’t amount to anything

· Baggage

· Moocher

· Gold digger

· Horrible person

· Stuck up

· Lazy

· No work ethic

I mean I’ve literally been called every name people could think of. My philosophy is that people do this to make themselves feel better about whatever short comings they have by putting you down. They think about what will cut you to the quick and hurt the worst so that they can have some power over you, and to be honest, the majority of the time it works. It hurts your self confidence, self respect and self worth. It can eat you up inside until you start thinking that they may be right.

However, I think the worst thing is when it’s someone you thought liked you that calls you all of these horrible things. Or if it’s someone you trust, respect or even look up to that it’s the absolute worst. You feel like your perception of that person is crushed and you just don’t know what to do about it. You just want everything to be the same that it once was, and to forget that they just made you feel so horrible.

I know that for me I felt the worst when I was told that I wasn’t going to be anything and that I was lazy, a gold digger, a moocher, and had no work ethic. It’s like that person didn’t know me at all, and it hurt because they’re someone I have to see all the time. How are you supposed to look at someone the same when they just shattered who you thought you were with one comment?

Now don’t think it’s an easy fix to just ignore them. Those comments can stick with you. They take down every defense barrier that you have and shatter it into pieces, and it takes a lot of time to build your walls back up and to get all the self respect that you lost when they said it. Some comments can make you a totally different person than you were before.

How do you feel about hurtful comments? I know that I hate when people are hurtful to me because I’m trying not to be hurtful to anyone else. What do you do to try and combat them? What’s the worst comment you’ve ever given/received?

Be courteous and say nice things,

Kristen

Hi Ho! Hi Ho! It’s off to work I go, Weekly Playlist

This was written last night, I just didn’t publish it before I went to bed. Oops :P

Hey all! So I wanted to just check in and let everyone know how work has been.

Yesterday was my first day and I had to go in at 6am. We were told to dress down because we were going to get dirty and they were right. We were moving product into the store, and we had to unload the truck move it out of receiving, into the store and then unloading off the cart and put it in its category where we would unbox it later.

I was unloading the cart into the store, and it was hard. we were throwing boxes and dropping them and everything but it was okay because the boss lady said I could :) Haha who’s boss says hey chuck that box over there?

We moved over 2000 boxes and I handled at least 1/3-1/2 of them myself. and some of them were heavy! By the time I got off work my arms hurt so mad I nearly cried every time I moved. Plus side? I showed my boss that I work really hard and I became her partner in unloading :)

I went to take the bus home after my 8.5 hour shift but I went the wrong way to the bus stop so I had to walk all the way around again and then when I got to Freddy’s I had to walk home and that sucked. When I got home I showered, ate some food, and fell asleep on the couch.

My mom was nice enough to get me flowers for my first day of work. Then we had Chinese food for dinner and strawberry milkshakes (with fresh strawberries) for dessert. It was actually a really awesome way to end the day.

*Note: I found at least 3 cuts and scrapes, and upwards of 6 new (big) bruises today from unloading freight*

I had to be into work at 10 today and all I really did all day was move like shoes next to each other which involves move 12 boxes per shoe. Not fun. Then clearance tags, then cleaning. Our store was essentially done so I got to go home a half hour earlier than I was supposed to but it was still an 8 hour day.

Then I found out that I work 12-6pm tomorrow and that’s it for the week. When the As. Manager Elsy saw my schedule she was like “I don’t like that that’s all you’re working. Come in tomorrow and we’ll fix it for you.” I was like Okay!

Our store opens on Thursday and I wanted to show you guys how it’s looking so I took a few pictures. Now please note it isn’t finished, but it is located where the Tanasbourne library once was.

So that’s it because I need to get to bed early so I can catch up on some sleep, but I want to leave you with this weeks playlist. It’s a mix of old, new, indie, rock, pop, etc. It’s kind of awesome. (Yes I know I missed a playlist or two)

Josh News, Concert, Lunch with Tai, Pictures

Hey blog readers welcome back!

First of all I wanted to give you guys some awesome Josh news. Drum roll please….
Thanksgiving Weekend 006

VID00431

Josh got his finished Chapter Packet today and was told that he’d be home next week! I am beyond ecstatic to have my Best friend back home. Especially since life’s been getting too busy for every night phone calls.
We haven’t seen each other in around a month and a half and it’ll be great to see him in his favorite atmosphere- Oregon.

*As you've no doubt noticed I redid the blog. Please be aware that this will happen a lot. I get bored with backgrounds easily so don't be alarmed if you check in and the page has no background. Don't worry I'm just tinkering with it again.*

Now on with the updating!

This past Tuesday (April 5th) was the Century High School Choir Festival Choir Concert. I was lucky enough to get an hour’s notice before the concert started so I hurried up and got ready, and convinced Helina to go with me. I have to say it was odd going to a concert and not being on stage. I had some serious déjà vu. But it was amazing to see all of my friends and the awesome Matt Sell sat next to me and kept me entertained.
I won’t say much about the concert because to those that weren’t there it won’t mean anything to you except that I am so proud of the people who care a lot about choir and I’m really proud of how far you’ve come and how strong you are. I also want to wish them luck on their upcoming competition.
Today I was supposed to have breakfast with a friend of mine, but my “boss” called and asked if I could work so I was working in Portland from 7am-3pm.  After my shift I had the awesome privilege of having lunch with Mr. Tai Le, who is my Portland lunch buddy now.
We went to the Lotus Express for Chinese food (where he made me hold out my fortune for forever so he could take a picture) and gossiped while we went shopping.
First we headed to Claire’s because we had time to kill and I wanted to find some cheap jewelry for work that was “trendy” as is my dress code and I came across this little beauty. It was supposed to be $5.50 but I when I checked out it was just over a dollar. I will admit that it made me pretty happy and I nearly went back for more.

So cute!
Then we went to Fuego (which has amazing jewelry), Nordstrom Rack and Ross for some clothes for Tai. While he was trying them on I went ahead and browsed the home section and I found some surprisingly cute things (and some dorky ones) so I took a few quick snapshots.

That was my boring, but awesome day. I know what a weird blog post, but I wanted to put one up tonight.
Random thought: Now even though this has nothing to do with anything I just wrote I wanted to talk about this new cleanser I just bought (I know this is random). It’s the Bioré blemish fighting ice cleanser. You rub this into your face, rinse it off, and then BAM! Your face gets cold. It’s actually really cool. It was $8 at Albertsons and I actually really like it so far. I’m quite impressed.

Okay, this nerdy chick needs to go to bed for her 4:45 am wake up call.
Goodnight, sleep peacefully, and dream happy dreams,
Kristen
P.S. I work my first day at DSW tomorrow so hope I don’t drop a box of shoes on my foot!
