First off I want to say that coming out of the broom closet means that I just admitted to the world (publically) that I am a Pagan. It’s a big step that I’ve been moving toward for a while now. I hope that everyone respects my beliefs and is kind enough to talk to me with any concerns or thoughts about the matter.
I love all of you and I hope my views don’t color your thoughts about me in your eyes.
As I stated in the video I fall under the Pagan Umbrella. What I mean by that is that Paganism in itself is not a religion. It is a large system under which plenty of other similar belief systems fall under. They all have the same general thoughts and beliefs, but very slightly with their practice.
I believe in:
· Reincarnation: the belief that when we die our soul’s learning is not finished and is reconstituted into another body to live another life, without any remembrance of the previous life/lives
· Summerland: Limbo- The place between earth and eternal rest where our souls stay until they find another body and therefore another life
· Animism: Everything has a soul or spirit inside of it. An energy that connects us all together
· Polytheism: Multiple deities exist in one specific pantheon
· The Law of Three: Everything you send out into the universe (positive or negative energy or thoughts) come back at you threefold
· Wiccan Rede: Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill, an it harm none do as ye will. Basically you can do or act as you want but you can’t hurt another person emotionally, psychically, etc. Sometimes it’s hard to adhere to, but I try my best.
I don’t believe in:
· Satan, Lucifer, the Devil. I also don’t believe in the boogie man or Santa Clause
· Hell
· Heaven (to some degree- see Summerland)
· A single God
*I may go into more detail about my religion and such at a later time.*
So now that I’ve defined animism for you I want to go ahead and tell you the story that I mentioned in the video.
Two years ago in December my parents and I went to a Christmas tree farm to pick out our tree like we do every year, and once we finally picked our tree we all helped to saw it down so that we could take it home. As the tree finally fell I noticed that the sap was blood red. It literally looked like our tree was bleeding. All of a sudden I felt the most horrible sense of guilt and regret that I caused the tree harm and I was upset for weeks until the tree died. I know I’ll get made fun of for that, but if you saw what I did you wouldn’t be mocking me.
Anyways, I believe that nature should be revered and that people should be respectful and mindful of each other and their beliefs.
I’m going to let this sink in for now but before I go I want to remind you to leave a comment below telling me about your religion or thoughts/ questions about it. Thank you so much for reading and for your pleasure I want to share with you an excerpt from Deborah Blake’s Everyday Witch A to Z that I think explains me perfectly and is chalked full of awesome jokes : ) Enjoy!
