Hello blog readers, I finally got a chance to post the pictures of my garden!
Here we have the making of:
The first 2 sides done. We really only needed them one plank high, but oh well.
Mom just chilling out after getting all the dirt. She helped later. :)
Liner so that no weeds could grow through the gravel
It was like a big messy stapled present.
I shoveled that dirt into that garden.
I love Lucy moment :)
Filled it with new dirt
The second garden (it still looks like this)
Then the plantings:
This is what the garden looked like on May 8, 2011…
Whenever I plant anything I always say a little prayer that the plant stays healthy. It’s the saddest thing to me to see plants dying.
Then I like to say “reach for the stars little guys, you can do it!” I know it’s nerdy, but I like to think it helps.
I water the garden every other day (since it’s Oregon and generally it rains a little) at about 3pm everyday.
*I do it a little later in the day because if you do it at noon the water could cause sun to burn the leaves easier, and if you do it too late at night it could mold overnight.*
After less than a month this is what I have…
Look at how tall and beautiful they all look!
Cucumbers
Cabbage
Zucchini Squash
Cauliflower
Red Peppers
Broccoli
Big Beef (top) and Cherry Sweetie Tomatoes (bottom)
Cherry Sweetie Tomatoes
Early Girl Tomatoes
Brussell Sprouts
Lavender
*It all got planted in one huge clump*
So there it is! I also found some strawberry plants of mine that have sprouted and a HUGE group of Mint!
One Strawberry Plant
Just one stalk of Mint
This weekend we’re filling the other raised bed, and I’ll post the pictures then. I can’t wait to harvest everything and get it all sorted out.
Have a great week!
Lots of Love, and successful plants,
Kristen
